Timber Bridge SPEED Team
Combine engineering skills with community outreach as you work with local groups to design, fabricate, and install a timber frame bridge.
The Timber Bridge is a part of our SPEED program (Student Projects for Engineering Experience and Design). SPEED is a 100% student-run and managed team that consists of 15-20 students from engineering programs and other majors across the university, working together to solve a specific hands-on challenge.
About Timber Bridge
Our SPEED team is service-based, unlike the other SPEED teams who are competition-based. We partner with local groups and organizations to design and construct timber bridges from start to finish. We do everything from designing, cost analysis, and trail work to ensure our structure works with the environment. Our main goal is to better our members' engineering skills, learn and gain more experience about design and help the communities around us.
Why Join?
Our team is always accepting new members from any background, major, or year. Joining our team can improve communication and problem-solving skills because of the hands-on building we do. Our team is close-knit and is roughly 40% women. Not only does joining a SPEED team look good on your resume, and gives you hands-on experience, it connects you to some of your closest friends.
