Clarkson Equestrian Club
At Clarkson University, competition has just begun.
We’re located in the north country, in a small rural college town that provides lots of opportunities for us to bring our horses to college.
So, where do you start? Whether you’re a casual rider, an avid equestrian, or are just curious about the sport, the Clarkson University Equestrian Club welcomes you and serves as your all-encompassing introduction to our region’s pleasure and competitive riding activities. Learn more about where we go and how you can participate.
About Equestrian Club
Our club is all about having the ability to continue our passion for the equestrian sport, and this club allows those who have been a part of it for years to teach and share their passion with new riders. The Equestrian Club allows students to either continue their journey in the equestrian world or enter it and learn in either a competitive or recreational capacity. Students interested in competitive riding can join our IHSA Team, while recreational riders are welcome to our non-competitive Club.
Why Join Equestrian Club?
We ride out of Sunrise Stables!
Sunrise Stables is owned and operated by Emily Cambridge in Potsdam, NY. It is a full-service boarding and training facility for horse and rider, offering lessons in hunt seat, show jumping, eventing, dressage, and western pleasure & equitation.
The expansive facility offers an outdoor sand arena and an indoor arena in the works. There is also a cross-country course and numerous trails around the property. Multiple barns and numerous grass pastures house the 25+ horses who call Sunrise Stables home.
507 Ames Road, Potsdam, NY, United States, New York
With both a competitive team and a recreational club all riders are welcome. Members will receive instruction about grooming, tacking, and riding through hands-on participation, and there will be opportunities for members to learn about various other aspects of the equine world in addition to what can be learned in the saddle.
Here at Clarkson, it's ingrained in our culture to work as a team and teach others our skills. The Equestrian Club’s inviting and inclusive approach to riding builds from here, setting the stage for lifelong connections over a shared interest in exploration.
Events
Lessons and group riding happen regularly. We follow the IHSA Zone 2 Region 2 Show schedule for our competitive team.
