Student Health Insurance

Student health insurance coverage is mandatory at Clarkson University for non-distance program students. Students must either have adequate health insurance through their parent/guardian, their own coverage, or enroll in Clarkson University’s provided coverage through UnitedHealthcare.

Students that have health insurance coverage through their parent/guardian or their own coverage will need to provide proof of such coverage by completing the health insurance activity guide in their myCU account AND by completing the health insurance waiver online through the health insurance administrator’s (Haylor, Freyer & Coon, Inc.) webpage. The information entered in the health insurance waiver form will be verified by the health insurance administrator (Haylor, Freyer, & Coon, Inc.). Coverages will need to meet minimum standards as determined by the health insurance administrator in conjunction with the University’s Director of Risk Management; if your coverage is deemed not to have met the minimum standards, then you will need to adjust your coverage to meet the minimum standards or become enrolled in Clarkson University’s provided coverage through UnitedHealthcare. Furthermore, coverages for Spring 2025 must be active on or prior to 1/1/25; any exemptions to this date will require approval from the University’s Director of Risk Management.

  • The Spring 2025 student health insurance rate for Undergraduate students is $1,622.82 for the period of 1/1/25 – 7/31/25.
  • The Spring 2025 student health insurance rate for Graduate students is $2,485.34 for the period of 1/1/25 – 7/31/25.

2024-2025 Instructions

The Health Insurance Activity Guide should pop-up automatically once you sign in to myCU (if it doesn't, then you can find it on the Campus Experience Dashboard). If your goal is to complete the waiver form, then the Activity Guide will direct you to the health insurance administrator’s website to do so.  The deadline to complete the waiver form is 1/31/2025; students that fail to meet the deadline will be automatically enrolled in Clarkson University’s provided coverage through UnitedHealthcare and consequently be responsible for the cost; there will not be any exceptions made for failing to meet the deadline.

Please email studentfinancials@clarkson.edu if you have questions related to the instructions.
