Student advising plays an essential role in our pre-medical track. As a student, you will be assigned an advisor who will work with you every year to ensure you're making steady progress toward your application materials. During your first two years, you'll take relevant coursework and gain experience in the medical community through volunteering or internships. In your third year, you will work on building a portfolio for applications. In your final year, you will focus on the application and admissions process.
In addition to your advisor, you will have a team across the University to help you develop meaningful credentials, study for placement exams and help you with your post-graduation options. Introduction to Healthcare is a series of seminar courses that introduce students interested in all areas of healthcare to issues such as professionalism, health delivery systems, medical ethics and the research basis for clinical care. It's one way you can explore other aspects of healthcare and other healthcare professions besides medicine.
Students interested in medicine, dentistry or pharmacy can apply for a reserved seat at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) before the end of their second year at Clarkson. The provisional acceptance requires a successful interview and can occur as early as your senior year of high school. Learn more about the early acceptance program.
