Clarkson University Senior Nabiha Madre Receives Levinus Clarkson Award
Nabiha Madre of Atco, NJ received the Levinus Clarkson Award during Clarkson University’s spring 2025 commencement ceremony on May 10. She was selected for the award by a vote of the full University faculty based on her scholarship and promise of outstanding achievement.
The award was established by University founders Elizabeth and Frederica Clarkson in memory of their brother, Levinus, and was first awarded in 1909. This award and the Frederica Clarkson Award are traditionally given to the two top students in the graduating class.
Madre will start medical school this summer, after which she plans to practice primary care either as a family medicine physician or pediatrician. She currently works as a Medical Assistant handling clinical duties, including rooming patients, taking vital signs, updating charts/medical history, and performing electrocardiograms (ECGs).
Madre, a member of the Honors Program, graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees in both Psychology and Biology on the Pre-Medicine Track. Her cumulative grade point average at Clarkson is 3.94, and she is a Presidential Scholar and has been named to the Dean’s List.
Madre worked in the Cultural, Family, and Child Development Lab in Clarkson’s Psychology Department, where she co-authored several peer-reviewed journal papers. Her research contributions are crucial for advancing the understanding of child psychology, incorporating innovative methodologies in the social sciences, and tackling vital societal challenges through rigorous empirical research. She presented her work in both 2023 and 2024 at the Association of Psychological Science Annual Convention.
In addition to her research achievements, Madre has exhibited exceptional teaching skills and a deep dedication to educational excellence. Over the course of five semesters, she has served as a Teaching Assistant for Cultural Psychology and Diversity Science.
Madre is a member of Clarkson University Emergency Medical Services where she served as Vice President, Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society, and Clarkson’s chapter of the American Cancer Society, where she served as Vice President. She has also received the Goldschein '57 Endowed Scholarship and is a member of Psi Chi, the international Honor Society in Psychology.
