John S. Mengucci ’84 Appointed Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees at Clarkson University

Clarkson University’s Board of Trustees has announced that John S. Mengucci ’84 has been appointed as its Vice Chair.

Mengucci is the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of CACI International Inc (NYSE: CACI), a global provider of expertise and technology to defense, intelligence, and federal civilian government customers. Under his leadership of the $7.7 billion company and while achieving sustained operational and financial excellence, CACI’s 24,000 talented and dynamic employees are ever vigilant in delivering distinctive expertise and differentiated technology to meet their customers’ greatest challenges in national security.

Prior to his appointment as president and CEO, Mengucci held the positions of CACI’s Chief Operating Officer, and president of U.S. Operations, with primary responsibility for the company’s domestic, federal, state, and local markets.

Before joining CACI, Mengucci’s career spanned three decades in roles of increasing responsibility, culminating as president of Lockheed Martin Corporation’s Information Systems and Global Solutions, Civil Product Line. In that role, his organization served clients such as the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and other federal agencies.

Mengucci was elected to the Clarkson University Board of Trustees in October 2019.  In addition to serving as Vice Chair, he is Chair of the Presidential Search Committee seeking the 19th president to lead the University since the institution’s founding in 1896. He is also a member of the Financial Affairs and People Priorities Committees.

Mengucci holds a bachelor of science degree in computer science from Clarkson University and a master’s of business administration in organizational management from Syracuse University.

In October 2024, Mengucci was honored with the prestigious 2024 Technology Good Scout Award by the Boy Scouts of America National Capital Area Council. This award recognizes and honors outstanding leaders in the technology industry from the greater Washington, D.C. area who exemplify the values of the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives.  

Mengucci has appeared on the Executive Mosaic Wash100 list and Virginia Business Magazine’s 500 Power List every year since 2020. He was named one of WashingtonExec’s Top 25 Execs to Watch in years 2020 and 2019, and was selected by Federal Computer Week to its 2018 Federal 100 (Fed100) list of visionary and transformative government and industry leaders. In the community, Mengucci serves on the boards of the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC), the Spookstock Foundation, and the Professional Services Council (PSC).
