Clarkson University Ranks Top-20 in Best Master’s in Data Science for 2025 by Fortune Magazine

Troves of new information are collected everyday. As the importance of interpreting and analyzing that information increases, Clarkson University’s Master’s in Applied Data Science program has been ranked one of the Top 20 programs in the country by Fortune Magazine.

In formulating its rankings, Fortune considers a variety of factors such as price, student backgrounds, and alumni outcomes. Fortune consults a panel of experts and analyzes a number of indicators that best judge the data science ecosystem for 2025.

Clarkson’s Data Science program gives students an extensive background in statistics, computational methods and programming in the 36-credit-hour program, which can be completed in-person or fully online. Students receive training through working with real clients on real problems, helping them hone in-demand problem solving skills that are highly sought after in today’s workforce.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the field of data science is booming – the number of data science jobs is expected to grow 36 percent by 2031, and in 2024, the median pay for the field was more than $110,000 a year.

A master's in data science qualifies graduates for jobs such as business intelligence analysts, clinical analysts, database administrators, and machine learning engineers.

Graduates from Clarkson’s Master’s in Data Science program have gone on to work at companies like American Express, M&T Bank, Charles Schwab and Veritas Prime. And, in 2024, the program had a 100 percent placement rate.
