Those who attend the open house, which begins at 6 p.m., will have the opportunity to meet with the program staff and tour Clarkson’s Health Sciences facilities.

The Paramedic Program is starting its next cohort on Aug. 18. This program aims to tackle the significant Emergency Medical Services (EMS) staffing shortages in the North Country and its surrounding rural areas with this intensive nine-month program. This initiative is the result of a collaborative effort with Clarkson University’s School of Health & Life Sciences and St. Lawrence Health.

The Paramedic Program is a full-time educational opportunity with 20 students per cohort, ensuring students can immerse themselves in their studies and gain hands-on experience in simulated emergency scenarios.

An entry-level paramedic must be well prepared in the cognitive, psychomotor and affective behavior learning domains. This program will prepare each student to make critical decisions and provide compassionate care. In the future, participants can also earn college credits, making this program an attractive option for those seeking to further their academic pursuits.

To be eligible for the Paramedic Program, applicants must be a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Clarkson also offers EMT classes through the Lewis School of Health Sciences. For more information on EMT courses, click here.
