Clarkson University to Host Veterans Appreciation Day August 9
Clarkson University will host its third annual Veterans Appreciation Day on Saturday, August 9, in Cheel Arena, continuing its long-running commitment to veterans.
This year’s event will pay special tribute to veterans of the Vietnam War, but all veterans and the general public are welcome.
The event will take place from noon until 4:30 p.m., with several activities, including a Vietnam Veterans Recognition Ceremony at noon, complete with a color guard and Prisoner of War/Missing in Action presentation.
During the entertainment portion, there will be abbreviated services for veterans and survivors to access, including a few area colleges, hospitals and community groups.
The Max Ryder Band, TimeLine and Ten Cent Green will also perform throughout the afternoon.
Free refreshments will be served throughout the event.
Guests are encouraged to pre-register at northcountryveterans.com. On-site registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. There is no charge to attend the event.
There are approximately 47,500 veterans living in the North Country in Lewis, Jefferson, St. Lawrence, Franklin and Clinton counties. Some may not be aware of, or have questions about, the veterans’ benefits to which they are entitled. This year, the third annual Veterans Appreciation Day is designed specifically as a recognition day with limited veterans benefit services.
Clarkson University launches leaders into the global economy. One in five alumni already leads as a CEO, VP or equivalent senior executive of a company. Located just outside the Adirondack Park in Potsdam, N.Y., Clarkson is a nationally recognized research university for undergraduates with select graduate programs in signature areas of academic excellence directed toward the world’s pressing issues. Through 50 rigorous programs of study in engineering, business, arts, sciences and health sciences, the entire learning-living community spans boundaries across disciplines, nations and cultures to build powers of observation, challenge the status quo, and connect discovery and engineering innovation with enterprise.
