Record Number of Companies at Clarkson University Career Fair
Clarkson University will host a record number of companies at its fall 2013 career fair, this Thursday, September 19.
So many companies are making the trek to northern New York State that the University will use its main student dining room to host some of the company booths, while students will take lunch and dinner that day in a large tent outside the Student Center building.
With only about 3,100 undergraduates and 600 graduate students, the 154 organizations registered to attend is a significant number for a University of Clarkson's size.
Specifically, employer participation increased 12.4 percent since last fall, and 20 percent from fall 2011.
Of students graduating in Clarkson's Class of 2012 and using the campus career center, 96 percent reported being placed in their field of study or career aspiration in the first year after graduation. While it remains to be seen exactly how the Class of 2013 fares on the employment market, initial hiring reports are positive and slightly ahead of last year.
Last fall, ABC News asked PayScale to name the schools with new graduates who earn more than Harvard’s and Clarkson was among just 12 schools on the list. AffordableCollegesOnline.org (ACO) lists Clarkson in the nation's top-30 private universities that offer a return on investment of at least $1 million. ACO also recently ranked Clarkson in New York state's top-10 for colleges and universities that provide the highest return on investment (ROI).
U.S. News also lists Clarkson as #1 in the nation for graduates with the most internship experience and in the nation's top-12 for its online graduate business programs.
The Career Fair is open to Clarkson University students only and is not a public event.
Clarkson University launches leaders into the global economy. One in five alumni already leads as a CEO, VP or equivalent senior executive of a company. Located just outside the Adirondack Park in Potsdam, N.Y., Clarkson is a nationally recognized research university for undergraduates with select graduate programs in signature areas of academic excellence directed toward the world’s pressing issues. Through 50 rigorous programs of study in engineering, business, arts, sciences and health sciences, the entire learning-living community spans boundaries across disciplines, nations and cultures to build powers of observation, challenge the status quo, and connect discovery and engineering innovation with enterprise.
