Clarkson University Clinical Associate Professor of Physical Therapy Stacey L. Zeigler has been honored with the Dr. Marilyn Moffat Distinguished Service Award by the New York Physical Therapy Association (NYPTA).

Clarkson University Clinical Associate Professor of Physical Therapy Stacey L. ZeiglerThis award recognizes an NYPTA member who has made an outstanding contribution to physical therapy. The honor, which has only been bestowed twice -- the last time in 2000 --, is awarded to a member who has "demonstrated consistent service to the development of the physical therapy profession, beyond that which is inherent in being a member of the profession."

Zeigler has been a faculty member at Clarkson since 2003, a licensed physical therapist since 1994, and a board-certified Geriatric Clinical Specialist since 2002. She earned her doctorate in physical therapy in 2005 from Simmons College and has 16 years of clinical experience, mostly in formal healthcare leadership and administrative roles.

Zeigler has developed and taught two unique courses for Clarkson's Doctorate of Physical Therapy program, resulting in five peer-reviewed abstracts and six state and national presentations on her innovations in integrating practice management skills with contemporary clinical practice.

She presents at both the state and national levels on autonomous practice, leadership and professionalism in physical therapy. She has also been co-investigator of three clinical grants, one research, and one community grant during her career.

Zeigler has built connections between the University, the profession of physical therapy, and the local community through collaborative research and presentations with faculty from Clarkson's Coulter School of Engineering, Center for Rehabilitation Engineering & Science Technology, and School of Business, as well as through continued clinical consultation as a physical therapist for Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley and Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

Clarkson University launches leaders into the global economy. One in six alumni already leads as a CEO, VP or equivalent senior executive of a company. Located just outside the Adirondack Park in Potsdam, N.Y., Clarkson is a nationally recognized research university for undergraduates with select graduate programs in signature areas of academic excellence directed toward the world’s pressing issues. Through 50 rigorous programs of study in engineering, business, arts, sciences and health sciences, the entire learning-living community spans boundaries across disciplines, nations and cultures to build powers of observation, challenge the status quo, and connect discovery and engineering innovation with enterprise.
