Lei Wu Appointed Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clarkson University

Lei Wu has been appointed assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at Clarkson University. He started teaching this fall and is offering a course in power transmission and distribution and operation and control of electric power systems.
Wu received his bachelor of science degree in electrical and computer engineering in 2001and his master of science in systems engineering in 2004, both from Xi’an Jiaotong University in Shanxi, China. He received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering in 2008 from the Illinois Institute of Technology. His Ph.D. dissertation title was "Stochastic Security-Constrained Operational Planning in Power Systems."
Before coming to Clarkson, Wu spent two years as a senior research associate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology.
His research interests include stochastic modeling and optimization of large-scale power systems, market power analysis and risk management, power system reliability and economics, smart grid cyber security, and high penetration renewable energy applications.
Wu has coauthored 16 articles in refereed journals and in 2009 one of those articles received the IEEE Transactions Paper Prize from the IEEE Power and Energy Society. He is the co-author of Stochastic Modeling and Optimization of Restructured power Systems, a book which is due to be published in 2011 by John Wiley & Sons Inc. and is co-inventor on one patent. He serves as a reviewer for a number of top U.S. and European power and energy related journals.
Wu is a member of the IEEE and Sigma Xi.
