Grant and Chezum Promoted at Clarkson University
Clarkson University President Tony Collins recently announced that Brian T. Grant ’93, director of admissions, has been promoted to dean of admissions, and that Kelly O. Chezum, assistant to the president for strategic advancement, has been promoted to vice president for external relations.
Grant’s promotion was in recognition of his leadership, since 2005, of the undergraduate admissions program, during which time Clarkson has experienced tremendous growth in applications from high-quality students and steadily increased its first-year enrollment.
A graduate of Clarkson’s Interdisciplinary Engineering and Management Program, Grant has been a member of the Admission staff since 1994 and previously served as director of enrollment operations and as alumni admission coordinator. He has a master’s in education from SUNY Potsdam.
Chezum was promoted in recognition of her leadership of marketing and strategic communications at the institution, the management of the long-range planning process and her growing role in regional and national organizations advancing higher education and areas of strategic interest to Clarkson.
With undergraduate degrees in marketing and communications from Carroll University, Chezum completed her MBA at Clarkson in 2004 and is pursuing a doctorate in law and policy at Northeastern University.
She will continue to serve as the assistant secretary of the board of trustees and lead the Office of Marketing & External Relations, which she has done for the last six years.
Chezum began her employment at Clarkson in 1999 during the Campaign for Clarkson as the director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. She has held prior marketing and public relations management positions in the not-for-profit, government and private sectors.
