Clarkson University Mourns Victims of Northern Illinois University Tragedy
The following message was sent to the Clarkson University community today by President Tony Collins:
Last week, our campus community mourned with our colleagues, student peers, friends and the families of the victims of Thursday's shooting at Northern Illinois University. The thoughts and prayers of the Clarkson University community go out to all those impacted by this tragedy.
If you would like to speak with a counselor or know of someone who needs counseling assistance, please call 268-2327 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. After hours, you may call Campus Safety & Security at 268-6666, who will immediately put the Counseling Center staff person on call in touch with you.
Clarkson University has an Emergency Response Plan and a team charged with its implementation -- see http://www.clarkson.edu/emergency for more information. We are always actively reviewing our plan to be certain that we respond as effectively and appropriately as possible to any emergency. Our Emergency Response Team met last Friday morning and I am confident in Clarkson's ability to provide rapid communication to the campus and an effective response in the event of a crisis.
Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have specific concerns and either I, or an appropriate member of my staff, will respond to you. It is our intention and goal to continue to provide a safe living-learning-working environment for all members of our Clarkson community.
