Zachary Cohen '12
Hired by…General Motors
For Zach Cohen ’12, getting a job at General Motors’ Milford Proving Grounds was all about performance.
An engineering & management major from Huntington Woods, Mich., Zach grew up just 30 miles from his future place of employment and had some connections there, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t have to prove himself.
Zach had two internships with GM before securing a full-time position. The first was in global purchasing and supply chain as a purchasing intern in the carpet, acoustics, trunk trim, labels and owner’s manuals team. The second was in global noise and vibration in the driveline, fuel economy, advanced propulsion noise and vibration team.
“I definitely believe that Clarkson has prepared me for my new role. While working as an intern, my mentor, peers and boss all applauded my technical skills and said that I achieved more in a summer than most semester long co-ops had in the past,” he explains. “I feel as if my thought process and ability to solve problems has grown thanks to my experiences at Clarkson.”
And he’s ready to become a fast-rising fish in the company, too.
He says, “My goal is to become a vehicle chief engineer in the near future, and hopefully become president or CEO of GM in the more distant future.”
See you at the top, Zach.
