Real-World Experience
The Environmental Health Science (EHS) program partners with organizations such as Alcoa, local government, and public school systems to conduct health hazard assessments in work and community environments. Our undergraduates work hand-in-hand with managers and other personnel to assess exposures to chemicals, noise and particulate.  And they then develop recommendations for the control of these hazards!

In such experiences, you will gain a full appreciation of real-world problem solving. This is a distinctive element of the Clarkson EHS program, and it comes from the confidence our industry partners have developed in our program.

Undergraduates also gain hands-on experience through cooperative programs and internships.

Example Internships Include:

  • Alcoa
  • Dana Farber Cancer Institute
  • General Electric
  • IBM
  • O'Brien & Gere
  • OSHA
  • U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
  • NIOSH
  • Wyeth Pharmaceuticals

"At Clarkson, I have discovered a curiosity to learn more. I've worked in a research lab synthesizing compounds to be used as an additional cancer treatment with chemotherapy and audited campus research labs through Clarkson's Health and Safety Department. This summer, I'm interning with General Electric, where I am completing risk assessments for the Ft. Edward, NY, plant. I am really enjoying it!"
