Hudson Valley Community College '09
I’m from…Latham, N.Y.
My major is...Chemical Engineering
I transferred to Clarkson because…I visited and was able to really get a feel of what life was like there. The overall atmosphere just fit with me and I knew that it would give me the opportunity to get away from home, but not be too far at the same time.
Being a student at Clarkson has helped me…continue to grow and gain knowledge in fields I am passionate about, like chemistry and engineering. It’s also given me a challenge, which I am always up for!
I was well prepared for Clarkson because…the classes at HVCC were very group oriented, just like at Clarkson. Learning how to be a great team player and having good communication skills ahead of time were very beneficial.
On campus, I’m involved in…Society of Women Engineers, the Clarkson University Transfer Student Association, the Outing Club, and the Ski Club.
What’s hot on my plate now…is conducting research with the department of chemistry and biomolecular science. I’m working under Professor Evgeny Katz and learning about modifying surfaces such as glass, silicon wafers, and gold electrons for polymer immobilization.
When I graduate, I want to…either find a job working in petroleum or continue to do research and get my master’s from Clarkson. I know I can, because everyone here is willing to do whatever it takes to help me accomplish my goals.
