Challenged Outside Her Comfort Zone

"I learned the most I have ever learned in the shortest amount of time in my life so far," says Kelly Whiting '04. "I was finally challenged and tested to go outside of my comfort zone. I learned a lot about myself and grew as a person. I made friendships that will last a lifetime. The Clarkson School was an extremely positive experience for me."

While some students move on to other universities after their year in The Clarkson School, Whiting chose to stay on at Clarkson University. She earned a degree in business and technology management in 2007 and is now a software consultant at IBM.

Kelly says her year at The Clarkson School helped set her apart when it came time to begin her career. "The Clarkson School experience was evidence that proved I was willing to take chances, try something new, and take on challenges to better my career - which are all essential characteristics needed in any employee."

As a student at Clarkson University, Kelly easily slipped into the role of leader. She served as president of Clarkson's successful Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization (CEO), leading the club to national awards and into a new area: philanthropy.

After graduating from The Clarkson School and from Clarkson University, Whiting was ready to take on the world. "I can say from experience that the transition into the 'real world' is very easy because of Clarkson's preparation," she said.
