Dr. Jeremy Welsh, DHSc, RPA-C, EM-CAQ
Director of Clinical Education/Clinical Assistant Professor

Dr. Welsh is a native of Syracuse, NY.  Prior to entering PA school Jeremy completed his undergraduate degree from Utica College with a major in biology, and worked as a fireman and EMT for South Onondaga Fire Department.  He graduated from the LeMoyne College Physician Assistant program in 2003.  During his PA training he served as Treasurer and then President of the student society at the college.  After graduation he worked in urgent care at North Medical PC and emergency medicine at St Joseph’s Hospital Healthcare Center.  In 2006 he was appointed as Midlevel Director of North Medical Urgent Care where he continued to practice and perform administrative oversight.  In 2009 he started a new position in emergency medicine full time at St. Joseph’s Hospital which he continued until his appointment as Director of Clinical Education at Clarkson University. 

His academic training after graduating from LeMoyne College, includes a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center specializing in urgent care medicine, and a doctorate degree from A.T. Still University with concentrations in organizational behavior and leadership.  His dissertation work was published in December, 2010.  Dr. Welsh is a recent graduate of Seton Hall Law School with certification in Health and Hospital Law. He has been a clinical preceptor in emergency medicine for LeMoyne College since 2004 and worked as adjunct faculty teaching problem based learning and emergency medicine. 

Dr. Welsh was awarded a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Emergency Medicine, a distinction earned by meeting license, education and experience requirements and then passing an exam in the specialty. He is one of only 234 certified PAs to earn a CAQ in the program's first year, and only one of 17 in the state of New York.

Dr. Welsh’s passion for Physician Assistant education focuses on both medical education and the development of well-rounded and engaged individuals that will continue the future of this profession.
