As a biology major, you will take 40 credits specifically within biology. These credits, in conjunction with the Clarkson Common Experience, will provide a well-rounded education focusing on the areas of study you find most interesting.
All courses are 3 credits unless noted.
Clarkson Common Experience
The following courses are required for all students, irrespective of their program of study. These courses are offered during the fall semester. FY100 First-Year Seminar is required only for first-year students. Both FY100 and UNIV190 are typically taken during the fall semester of the first year at Clarkson.

Students are required to complete the following Professional Experience:
Students are required to complete the following electives for the biology major.
Students must complete biology (BY) subject area courses to a total of 40 BY credits (including required courses) - this amounts to 21-23 elective credits.
Students must complete two biology lab courses at the 200-level or higher (excluding BY405 and BY410).
Mathematics/Computer Science Electives
Students must complete three mathematics or computer science courses at the 100-level or higher, including one calculus course and one statistics course.
Knowledge Area/University Course Electives
Students majoring in biology will have approximately 18 credit hours available to use for Knowledge Area and/or University Course electives.
Students majoring in biology will have approximately 24 credit hours available to use for courses of their choice.
