Capt. John Warson has been appointed assistant professor of military science at Clarkson University.
He holds a bachelor science degree in general studies from Liberty University and a master's degree in geological engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology.
His military education includes basic and advance individual training, primary leadership development course, basic non-commissioned officer course, advanced non-commissioned officer course, Airborne School, Air Assault School, sapper leader course, Jumpmaster School, civil affairs course, Drill Sergeant School, Officer Candidate School, basic officer leader course, engineer basic officer leader course, equal opportunity leader course and the engineer captain’s career course.
Warson commissioned through Officer Candidate School in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2009 and was assigned to the 31st Engineer Battalion in Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. Prior to his command, he served as an executive officer, assistant battalion operations officer, brigade training officer, and assistant brigade operations officer.
His deployments include: 1994 to Haiti as a combat engineer in support of Operation Uphold Democracy, 2000 to Kosovo as a squad leader in support of Operation Joint Endeavor, 2003 to Baghdad as a platoon sergeant in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and 2004 to Afghanistan as engineer cell non-commissioned officer in charge.
