Martin Appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at Clarkson University
Rebecca Martin has been appointed clinical assistant professor of physical therapy at Clarkson University.
She received her both her bachelor of science degree in health sciences and her master of science degree in physical therapy from Misericordia University. She received her doctor of physical therapy degree from Massachusetts General Hospital’s Institute of Health Professions.
A licensed physical therapist in New York State, she is working toward getting her certification as a neurological clinical specialist.
Before accepting this position, she worked at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, while also serving as an adjunct instructor at Clarkson. She taught musculoskeletal and neuromuscular physical therapy and was a clinical instructor and clinical lab assistant for cardiopulmonary-exercise science. Prior to that, she was a teaching assistant at Misericordia University.
Martin has hands-on clinical experience from Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Yuma Rehabilitation Hospital and The Life Care Center of Yuma. She has evaluated and treated patients with acute and chronic injuries, diseases, or disabilities.
She has volunteered or worked in physical therapy settings since the 8th grade, accumulating a varied background and skill set within the field. In addition to working with patients in clinics, she has enjoyed many volunteer opportunities through programs like the Muscular Dystrophy Association summer camps and local adaptive sports programs.
Her honors and activities include the McAuley Award Service Scholarship and induction into the Alpha Chi Honor Society.
She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the Neurology section of the American Physical Therapy Association, and the New York Physical Therapy Association.
