Adrian Vielhauer Appointed Assistant Professor of Military Science at Clarkson University

Adrian Vielhauer Jr. (U.S. Army Major, Retired) has been appointed assistant professor of military science at Clarkson University.

Adrian Vielhauer Jr.Before coming to Clarkson, Vielhauer served in several leadership positions in the U.S. Army during his 22-year career. He has deployed four times in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

He enlisted in the Army in August 1989, then entered the R.O.T.C. Green to Gold program through Clarkson University, received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from SUNY Potsdam, and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in July 2000.

Vielhauer is responsible for recruiting, developing, retaining and commissioning future officers of the U.S. Army by focusing on academic discipline, physical fitness and leadership development. He is instructing this year’s freshman class in military science and leadership development.

His awards and decorations include four Bronze Star Medals, Purple Heart, two Meritorious Service Medals, four Army Commendation Medals (Valor Device), two Army Achievement Medals, three Army Good Conduct Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, three Humanitarian Service Medals, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, two Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbons, Army Service Ribbon, five Overseas Service Ribbons, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Meritorious Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, Combat Action Badge, Expert Field Medical Badge, Army Aviation Badge, Army Recruiter Gold Badge with three sapphire stars, and the Army Driver Badge. He is also a proud recipient of the New York State Conspicuous Service Cross and the New York State Conspicuous Service Star.
