Guohui Song Appointed Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Clarkson University
Guohui Song has been appointed assistant professor of mathematics at Clarkson University.
He received his bachelor of science degree in mathematics and applied mathematics from Wuhan University in Wuhan, China, and his master of science and doctoral degrees in mathematics from Syracuse University.
Before coming to Clarkson, he was a visiting assistant professor at the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Arizona State University and at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
His research interests are in computational math and statistics, including, computational harmonic analysis, machine learning, approximation theory, image processing, sampling theory, numerical analysis, spline smoothing, nonparametric statistics, data mining, and statistical learning theory and application.
His teaching interests include the application of mathematics software.
Song has spoken at mathematics seminars, conferences and invited talks in China and in the United States. He also has co-written professional manuscripts and articles in refereed journals.
While at Syracuse University, he was awarded the Donald E. Kibbey Prize for excellence in the Ph.D. program.
