Clarkson University’s Dana Barry Wins 15th Consecutive APEX Award

Dana M. Barry, senior technical writer and editor at Clarkson University’s Center for Advanced Materials Processing (CAMP), has won her 15th consecutive APEX Award for Publication Excellence.

This honor, presented by Communications Concepts in Springfield, Va., is based on editorial content and overall communications effectiveness and excellence. Barry has received this award annually since 1996.

Her winning entry, the CAMP Annual Report Newsletter: 2008-2009, faired extremely well in the competition. There were close to 4,000 entries from the United States and other countries in the competition. Approximately 1,100 awards Clarkson University’s Dana Barry Wins 15th Consecutive APEX Awardof excellence were distributed in 127 subcategories of 11 major areas.

Barry is also the first author of a book chapter about creative engineering design included in Innovations 2010, a publication of the International Network for Engineering Education and Research (2010). Her coauthor is Professor Hideyuki Kanematsu of Suzuka National College of Technology, Japan.

Barry’s most recent book, the Power of Prayer: A Science Educator’s Experience, published by Strategic Book Publishing, was published in2010 as well.

Barry has over 150 professional publications including books, book chapters, science encyclopedia entries, journal features, scripts for aired television shows, and music CDs. This work is published in the United States, Japan, England, Australia, Malaysia, India and other countries.

Barry is scientific board president for Ansted University. She is an officer for the northern New York section of the American Chemical Society, a certified professional chemist, and has permanent teacher certification in New York State to teach chemistry and other science courses.
