Photo caption: Ryan McBath (right) of Canton, a chemical engineering graduate student at Clarkson University, works with students from Little River Community School in a Clarkson science laboratory. McBath brought the students to campus to test the heating value of the biodiesel fuel they made from used vegetable oil. The lesson was part of a chemistry unit he taught on alternative transportation fuels through Clarkson’s K-12 Project Based Learning Partnership Program. This program, which is funded by the National Science Foundation, has placed Clarkson graduate and undergraduate students in science, math and technology classes in areas schools for the past nine years. Little River students include (left to right) Jana Prudhomme of Canton, Ellie Siegfried of Potsdam, and Danny Fullerton of Colton.
