World in Potsdam Diversity Festival Special Postal Cancellation Available
As part of the World in Potsdam Diversity Festival, the U.S. Postal Service will offer a special commemorative cancellation featuring the festival logo to celebrate the event that will be held on Saturday, November 8, from noon to 4:30 p.m. in Clarkson University’s Cheel Campus Center
Those attending the World in Potsdam Diversity Festival will be able to get the unique postmark at the special temporary Post Office station on postcards that will be provided or any postcard or envelope with uncancelled first-class postage.
As a community service, the Postal Service offers pictorial postmark cancellations to commemorate local events celebrated in communities throughout the nation. They are unavailable at regular retail counters and therefore of special interest to collectors. People attending these local events may obtain the cancellation in person.
Anyone who cannot attend, but would like to obtain the cancellation, may submit a mail order request. Requests must be postmarked no later than 30 days following the requested pictorial postmark date.
All requests must include a stamped envelope or postcard bearing at least the minimum first-class mail postage. Items submitted for cancellation may not include postage issued after the date of the requested postmark.
Those wishing to obtain the cancellation should affix stamps to any envelope or postcard, address the envelope or postcard to themselves or others, insert a card of postcard thickness in envelopes for sturdiness and tuck in the flap. Place the envelope or postcard in a larger envelope and address it to "Pictorial Postmarks, World in Potsdam Diversity Festival Station, 21 Elm St., Potsdam, NY 13676."

In addition, there will be numerous activities, hands-on crafts, demonstrations and international displays for everyone to enjoy. Children will particularly enjoy the Piata Party.
The World in Potsdam Diversity Festival not only highlights the world’s cultures and peoples, but it also brings members of the Potsdam community together to celebrate the town’s unique and diverse cultural heritage.
