Princeton Review 2009: Clarkson University One of Best Colleges
Clarkson University offers students a "demanding," "hands-on" and "absolutely innovative" academic environment according to The Princeton Review. The New York-based education services company features Clarkson in the new 2009 edition of its annual book, Best 368 Colleges. Only about 15% of America’s 2, 500 four-year colleges and two Canadian colleges are selected for inclusion in the book.
In its profile on Clarkson, The Princeton Review quotes extensively from the Clarkson students surveyed for the book who describe themselves as "very smart," "hardworking" and "generally ambitious." Comments like "Companies love to hire future employees, here (at Clarkson)," and "We show so much school spirit, it’s like the other team’s fans aren’t there!" highlight the school’s track record for strong career preparation and placement, camaraderie among students and school spirit supporting Golden Knight athletic teams. Other comments referencing concrete buildings and the significance of life outdoors provide a backdrop for why the University is pursuing a new master plan to develop new learning and living facilities on campus and to reflect its proximity to the Adirondack Mountains. Clarkson was also given high marks in the review’s new "Green Campus" ratings which recognize environmental practices, policies and course offerings. On a scale of 60 to 99, Clarkson achieved a 95.
Clarkson is consistently among the schools ranked well in both The Princeton Review’s "Best Colleges" and U.S. News & World Report’s annual issue of "Best Colleges," where Clarkson is listed as a top-tier national university. U.S. News also ranks the Clarkson School of Business Supply Chain Management Program as #11 in the nation and its engineering programs among the top 100 nationwide.
Defy Convention: Clarkson University launches leaders into the global economy. One in six alumni already leads as a CEO, VP or equivalent senior executive of a company.
