10th Mountain Division 1st Brigade Combat Team Commander to Speak at Clarkson University ROTC Commissioning May 12

The musicians of the 10th Mountain Division Band are the official musical ambassadors of the United States Army's 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) and Fort Drum. First activated in 1942, this group of dedicated professionals has brought stirring and entertaining performances to audiences throughout the northeastern United States, Ontario and Quebec. Military ceremonies, parades, formal public concerts, school assemblies and community festivals are all part of the band's yearly schedule of more than 200 performances.
Paschal was born and raised in Chicago, Ill. Upon completion of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program at the University of Illinois at Chicago, he was commissioned as an Infantry Lieutenant.
Paschal served as Rifle Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, Battalion S3 Air while assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division (Light) at Fort Ord, Calif. In 1989, he deployed with the battalion as the Task Force Adjutant to the Sinai Peninsula in support of the Multinational Forces and Observers (MFO) mission.
Following completion of the Infantry Officer Advanced Course in 1990, he was assigned to the 6th Ranger Training Battalion where he served as Platoon Training Team OIC and Company Commander for the Florida Phase of Ranger School. In 1992, Paschal was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He served as a Rifle Company Commander and Battalion S3.
After graduation from the Command and General Staff College, he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky. While assigned to the 502nd Infantry Regiment, he served as a Battalion S3, Executive Officer and Brigade Operations Officer. It was during this time that he completed his second rotation in the Sinai Peninsula with the MFO as the Battalion Operations Officer for 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry.
Paschal was pre-positioned at Fort Drum and initially served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for the 10th Mountain Division and Task Force Falcon in Kosovo. After returning from Kosovo, he commanded the Catamounts of 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment. During his tenure, the Catamounts deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Paschal's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with four Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with three Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal (with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters), The Multinational Forces and Observers Medal (with Numeral 2), United Nations Medal (Kosovo), Kosovo Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (with Oak Leaf Cluster), Global War on Terror Service and Expeditionary Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge and Ranger Tab.
