Friday night, February 16, was Fort Drum night at Clarkson. During the pre-game ceremonies, University President Tony Collins welcomed approximately 200 soldiers and their families from the 10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum to the game. The soldiers, many who recently returned from combat in Afghanistan and Iraq, were special guests of the University.
The University also observed a moment of silence to honor the memory of U.S. Army Specialist Chad E. Fuller, a 1998 graduate of Potsdam Central High School who was killed in combat in Afghanistan in 2003. Fuller's parents, Gene and Sue Burnham, and family members were also Clarkson's special guests.
The U.S. Army Band from Fort Drum thrilled the assembled crowd by playing both the Canadian and American national anthems.
