Clarkson CEO Club Receives Five Awards at Conference

The Clarkson University chapter of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization (CEO) received five awards at this year's CEO Conference held at the Hyatt Regency at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois.

This is the third year in a row Clarkson CEO has won first place in the "Best Business" category. It was given to them for their work with Knights Unlimited, one of the reasons CEO was founded six years ago. They have an agreement with University Bookstore to sell collegiate merchandise on campus through a kiosk located in Clarkson's Cheel Campus Center and retain 15 percent of the profits.

The Clarkson CEO chapter also won four second-place standings: Business Plan, Marketing Plan, Best Display, and Student Leader. All of the previous awards, besides the display, are judged based on material written by CEO members that is submitted two to three weeks before the conference.

Jonathon Parry, a senior business and technology management major, was nominated by the club for the "Student Leader of the Year" award and received second place. According to members of the CEO Club, "Jon is an outstanding leader and this year, alone, went out of his way to really improve the way freshmen are involved with our club and gave them the initiative, through automatic responsibility, to develop a sense of what they want to get out of CEO." This award was submitted through a recommendation written by Clarkson CEO advisor Marc Compeau.
