Clarkson University hosts New York State Maple Tour, July 14-16, 2006 (Maple Producers Association of St. Lawrence County, N.Y.)
The largest county in New York State, St. Lawrence County's extensive woods includes industrial forests, state lands, farms and small private woodlands. Maple production from its forests places the county as one of the major syrup producing areas of the North Country, as well as the state. Bordering Canada along the St. Lawrence Seaway, the county's broad valley and highlands are also home to many other points in agriculture, recreation and higher education, including the internationally acclaimed carp fishing tournament along the St. Lawrence River.
Clarkson University's Cheel Center will offer spacious conference facilities and parking, as well as a noted banquet service. Lodging can be arranged on campus, as well as in the Potsdam area. The Maple Tour is planned to be both enjoyable and useful for take-home information. There will be a barbecue along the route during the first day of the tour.
