Clarkson University Is One Of Nation’s Best Colleges - U.S. News & World Report
U.S. News and World Report’s America’s Best Colleges 2006 issue ranks Clarkson University among the top 125 universities in the nation.
Clarkson is also recognized by U.S. News as one of the “Best undergraduate engineering programs,” and for its School of Business’ supply chain management program. The two programs are ranked number 77 and number 19, respectively.
U.S. News surveys more than 1,400 accredited four-year institutions for their annual “Best Colleges” issue. There are 248 American universities (162 public and 86 private) in the National Universities – Doctoral rankings group. To be considered for the “National Universities-Doctoral” category, these institutions must offer a wide range of undergraduate majors as well as master’s and doctoral degrees, and have research programs. With approximately 3,000 students, Clarkson is one of the smallest universities included in the nation’s top schools.
“This is one of the factors about the U.S. News rankings of which we are most proud,” states Clarkson University President Tony Collins. “To be one of the smallest national research-intensive universities, yet consistently rank among the nation’s best is evidence that the commitment to excellence by Clarkson’s faculty, researchers and staff is helping us deliver a top-notch undergraduate education. In fact, our size is an advantage because we are able to provide a collaborative and personalized learning environment.”
Clarkson’s Wallace H. Coulter School of Engineering is consistently ranked by U.S. News as one of the “Best Undergraduate Programs at schools whose highest degree is a doctorate.” Those engineering graduates choosing to pursue advanced degrees at another university are accepted in the best graduate programs in the nation, including Cal Tech, MIT, Harvard, Stanford and the University of Michigan. Students opting to begin their engineering careers find a job waiting for them. The placement rate for Clarkson-trained engineers in recent years is at or near 100%.
