Clarkson University Makes Entrepreneur Magazine’s 3rd Annual List Of Top 100 U.S. Entrepreneurial Colleges And Universities

The April issue of Entrepreneur magazine lists Clarkson University as one of the best 100 collegiate entrepreneurship programs in the United States. Clarkson has made the prestigious list every year since the magazine began publishing rankings in 2002. There were 825 research programs researched for the study. Clarkson appears in the list of the top 40 regionally recognized entrepreneur programs in the country.

Entrepreneur’s accompanying article “Honor Roll” explores the highly debated question - Are those who study entrepreneurship more likely to become entrepreneurs? And will they be more successful than other business students?

“The results of this study did not surprise us,” said Tim Sugrue, dean of Clarkson’s School of Business. “All business students at Clarkson start and operate successful businesses as part of the curriculum we offer.” As sophomores, Clarkson’s top business students have the opportunity to participate in Venture@Moorehouse, an innovative residential learning experience in which students live together and operate a business. The students are responsible for every facet of the business from establishing the company’s structure and making personnel decisions to securing start-up costs from a panel of investors. Profits the businesses generate are given to charity.

“Recognition by Entrepreneur magazine, especially three years in a row, is indication that our entrepreneurship program is strong,” remarked Marc Compeau, director of Entrepreneurship Programs at the Clarkson School of Business. “The success our graduates are having is an even stronger indicator,” he added.

Clarkson University, located in Potsdam, New York, is an independent university with a reputation for developing innovative leaders in engineering, business and the arts and sciences. Its academically rigorous, collaborative culture involves 2,700 undergraduates and 400 graduate students in hands-on team projects, multidisciplinary research, and real-world challenges. Many faculty members achieve international recognition for their scholarship and research, and teaching is a priority at every level. For more information, visit http://www.clarkson.edu.
