Sean Bennett Joins Clarkson As Associate Vice President Of Institutional Diversity Initiatives & Pipeline Programs

Sean T. Bennett has been appointed associate vice president of institutional diversity initiatives and Pipeline Programs at Clarkson University.

Bennett, a Clarkson alumnus, brings nearly a decade of professional experience to his new leadership position.  He recently served as the elementary academy director and interim school principal at the Charter School of Science and Technology in Rochester. Prior to that, he was academy director of the Charter School for Applied Technologies in Buffalo. Along with his administrative experience, Bennett was an intern at the Boston Renaissance Charter School and served for five years as an elementary teacher in the Rochester City School District.sbennett

Bennett received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Clarkson in 1992.He  holds a master’s degree in administrative planning and social policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a master’s degree in elementary education from SUNY Brockport.

Bennett is licensed in New York State as an elementary teacher, and also holds administrative certificates in New York state and Massachusetts.

Clarkson's Pipeline Programs provides academic, cultural and social support for under-represented students in science, mathematics, engineering and technology. By integrating efforts at the pre-collegiate, undergraduate, and graduate levels, it assists African American, Hispanic, and Native American students, as well as economically disadvantaged or first-generation college students.

Using a series of programs, pathways, and partnerships, Pipeline connects a variety of institutional resources. These include community colleges, national laboratories, federal and state agencies, foundations and corporations, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic American Colleges and Universities, and American Indian Tribal Colleges and Universities.
