Clarkson University’s Alpha Kappa Psi (AKPsi), a co-ed professional business student fraternity, earlier this month hosted its annual community holiday party to benefit local children. The business students organized games and activities and distributed new winter coats, hats, gloves and toys to more than 15 children.
More than 25 AKPsi members spent the fall raising money to purchase the winter clothing and gifts that were distributed at the party. Their successful "Lay It On The Line" fund-raising campaign elicited donations from community members shopping at area stores, Potsdam IGA and P&C, and attending Clarkson hockey games.
AKPsi began this community event in 1967 and the current members were pleased to be able to continue this 36-year-old tradition.
“It is a great feeling to give back to the community and to see the smiles on the children’s faces. The brotherhood looks forward to hosting this event again next year,” said Clarkson senior and AKPsi President Asun Sathyanathan ’04.
The party was held on the Clarkson campus and coordinated through St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam.
