Genny Pond of Pulaski, an engineering professor in the Department of Mathematics and Engineering at Jefferson Community College (JCC) and an alumna of Clarkson University, is the recipient of Clarkson’s 2003 Charles S. Ehrlich ’56 Alumni Admission Award.
Pond was honored with the award for her dedication and outstanding effort in assisting the Clarkson Office of Undergraduate Admission with the recruitment of highly qualified students. She received the award during Clarkson’s annual alumni reunion earlier this month.
“Almost half of the students who have transferred to Clarkson from Jefferson Community College have been influenced by Genny Pond, " said Suzanne Liberty, vice president for Admission and Alumni & Parent Relations. “Many of these students have made it clear they came to Clarkson because of Genny, and they praise her as both a resourceful adviser and a source of encouragement.”
Pond herself was a transfer student from JCC to Clarkson, receiving an associate of science in engineering science from JCC in 1993, and then a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Clarkson in 1995. She also holds a master’s degree from Clarkson. Pond joined the faculty of JCC in 1997.
Pond has also served as the director of Clarkson’s Horizons Program, a residential summer program for seventh and eighth grade girls who have an aptitude and interest in math and science.
The Charles S. Ehrlich Alumni Admission Award was created in honor of 1956 alumnus and past Clarkson Trustee Charles S. Ehrlich of Menands, N.Y. Ehrlich, a generous supporter of his alma mater, continues to serve as a key link between Clarkson alumni and admission recruitment activities.PHOTO CAPTION: Jefferson Community College Professor Genny Pond was honored by her alma mater Clarkson University with the Charles S.
