Clarkson Hosts Design And Build Competition To Celebrate National Engineers Week
Aliens are planning to destroy earth…can Clarkson students save the world?
Fifteen teams, comprising three students each, have signed up to compete in the "End of the World Competition." The project includes design, construction, safety, testing, teamwork, recycling and clean up. The participants, who will be competing for cash prizes, are not given instructions or any project specifications until they arrive for the on-site competition.
Also enrolled at the competition are four Native American student teams from the nearby Akwesasne Reservation. These teams are part of an affiliate chapter of the American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES)
The event is held annually to celebrate National Engineers Week. The competition this year is funded by the Alcoa Foundation, and sponsored by AISES, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the National Society of Black Engineers, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, the Society of Professional Women, and the Society of Women Engineers.
