World In Potsdam Diversity Festival Creative Writing Contest Submission Deadline Approach
Community members have until Friday, October 11, to submit poems, short stories, or essays for a writing contest on the topic of cultural diversity held in conjunction with the 2002 "World in Potsdam" Diversity Festival. Each person may submit one entry in one of these genres.
The ninth annual "World in Potsdam" Diversity Festival will take place on Saturday, October 26, in Clarkson University's Cheel Campus Center from 1-7:30 p.m.
Submissions must be typed, double-spaced, and not to exceed four pages in length. Submissions may be e-mailed as Microsoft Word attachments to firstname.lastname@example.org or may be mailed to:

Prizes for the contest are awarded during the festival. Separate prizes for contestants in grades K-6, grades 7-12, and adult will be awarded. Participants in the contest also are expected to attend the festival and permit the jury to publish the texts of their submissions in local newspapers. The winners in each genre of short story, poetry, and nonfiction will receive a certificate and a cash prize.
The "World in Potsdam" Diversity Festival is cosponsored by the Village of Potsdam, SUNY Potsdam and Clarkson University. The Sweetgrass Foundation is a major contributor. For more information, go to www.worldinpotsdam.org.
