Clarkson Schedules 9/11 Commemorative Events
In commemoration of the events of September 11, 2001, the following events will take place on the Clarkson University campus in Potsdam, N.Y., on Wednesday, September 11:
8:46 a.m. Moment of silence preceded by single toll of the Cheel Campus Center carillon (moment of impact of first plane into World Trade Center)
9:03 a.m. Moment of silence preceded by single toll of the Cheel Campus Center carillon (moment of impact of second plane into World Trade Center)
9:43 a.m. Moment of silence preceded by single toll of the Cheel Campus Center carillon (moment of impact of plane into Pentagon)
9:59 a.m. Moment of silence preceded by single toll of the Cheel Campus Center carillon (time first tower collapsed)
10:10 a.m. Moment of silence preceded by single toll of the Cheel Campus Center carillon (moment of impact of plane in Pennsylvania)
10:29 a.m. Moment of silence preceded by single toll of the Cheel Campus Center carillon and followed by tolling of carillon along with bells across New York state (time second tower collapsed)
3 p.m. As requested by President Bush "Taps" is played; color guard raises flag on Cheel Campus Center Lawn at World Trade Center beams.
9 p.m. Candlelight vigil on the Cheel Campus Center Lawn at World Trade Center beams. Tam Tran-Viet, president of the Clarkson Student Association, Gary Kelly, vice president for Student Affairs, and Jennifer Moriarty, resident advisor, will share their personal reflections; a slide show memorializing September 11th will be presented; and Kristin Baines will perform "Amazing Grace" and lead "God Bless America."
