Clarkson's Internet Consulting Group Offers Microsoft Office Certification

Clarkson University’s student-run Internet Consulting Group (ICG) is the first organization in St. Lawrence County to offer the new Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) certification.

This means that the group is authorized to train, test, and certify computer users in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook. A MOUS certification is the only desktop certification available that is approved by Microsoft.

MOUS tests involve an interactive on-line exam for each product. Two types of exams are available: “core” or “proficiency” exams, which cover the basic elements of a particular piece of software, and “expert” exams for those who oversee other computer users or want a more thorough and detailed understanding of each product.

ICG is committed to providing training and certification to local businesses and companies, as well as area schools, universities and other community groups and members.

MOUS certification is just one part of what the Internet Consulting Group can do for North Country businesses. They also provide services such as consultation, training, database design, Web site construction and e-commerce solutions. In addition, the group also provides off-site training.

If you or your organization is interested in pursuing MOUS certification or would like more information, please, contact Chris Emr or Ron Ayers at 315-268-3978 or icg@clarkson.edu.
