Bertrand H. Snell Hall Dedication Scheduled For October 13
A dedication ceremony for Bertrand H. Snell Hall at Clarkson University will be held on Friday, October 13, at 4 p.m. Tours of the new facility will be offered from 2:30 – 4 p.m. The community is invited to attend.
The 92,000-square-foot structure was completed in early September and houses the School of Business and School of Liberal Arts. This completes the planned move of undergraduate academic programs from the downtown campus to the hill campus. The Physical Therapy master’s program will remain downtown in Clarkson Hall where it operates in close proximity to Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s physical therapy outpatient services.
Bertrand H. Snell Hall contains technological and educational features designed to promote collaborative learning. Sophisticated computer and media laboratories, fully wired classrooms, case and seminar rooms, and an open configuration of space will enhance multidisciplinary inquiry and team-based problem solving.
This new academic facility is named after the late New York Congressman and Clarkson Trustee, Bertrand H. Snell. Snell’s daughter, Mrs. Harold W. Cheel, made a major gift commitment to the project and has been a longtime supporter of Clarkson initiatives.
Bertrand H. Snell Hall is the centerpiece of the “Campaign for Clarkson,” which also includes fundraising priorities for student financial aid and academic excellence initiatives. To date, the University has raised more than $46 million towards its $70 million goal.
