Michael P. Griffin of Potsdam has been named webmaster at Clarkson University. He will also continue to serve as director of News Services. Griffin has served as interim webmaster since last summer.
As webmaster, Griffin will be responsible for the planning, implementation and maintenance of all Clarkson University Web pages. In his role as director of News Services, he will continue to manage the University’s North Country media relationships and coverage. His complete title will be webmaster/director of News Services.
“Michael has done an excellent job taking charge of the rollout of the Web, working with the Clarkson community to bring new pages on board, mapping out our priority activities on the Web, and leading our student team,” said Chris Ritter, director of University Marketing, in announcing Griffin’s appointment.
“Michael played a leading role in developing the highly successful new, integrated format for the Clarkson Web site. He has the rare combination of communication skills, management skills and technical skills Clarkson needs as the University develops and maintains a strong presence in this increasingly important medium.”
In May, Griffin completed a master of science degree in management systems at Clarkson, earning a place in Beta Gamma Sigma, an honor society that recognizes the most outstanding students of business at institutions accredited by AACSB. He also holds a master of science in communication from Clarion University and a bachelor of science in management from the University of Scranton.
Prior to this, Griffin has served as associate director of University Communications, assistant director of News Services and Videographer/photographer at Clarkson, and as executive director of the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce.
Griffin serves on a number of University committees and is a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the New York State Higher Education Professional Communicators Action Team.
He is also a director of the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce; a member, past president and a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club of Potsdam; and past president of the American Heart Association St. Lawrence County Chapter.
A native of Scranton, Pa., Griffin resides in the Village of Potsdam with his wife, Nancy, and their two Labrador retrievers.
