Clarkson Hosts Fourth Annual College 101 Experience For High-school Sophomores And Juniors March 2

The fourth annual “College 101 Experience” for high-school sophomores and juniors returns to Clarkson University’s Cheel Campus Center on Thursday, March 2, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The event is sponsored by Clarkson University, St. Lawrence University, SUNY Canton and SUNY Potsdam.
The program was created to make North Country and Canadian students more aware of the higher education opportunities available in northern New York, and in Ontario and Quebec. High school students from Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties have been invited to attend. Students from Ontario and Quebec are also welcome.
In addition to the four Canton and Potsdam colleges and universities, other schools invited to attend include SUNY Plattsburgh, Paul Smith’s, North Country Community College, Jefferson Community College, Clinton Community College, Concordia University (Montreal), Queens University (Ottawa), St. Lawrence College (Cornwall, Ont.), McGill University (Montreal) and University of Toronto.
College 101 activities include:
-Staffed booths from each college, where students can obtain information and admission materials
-A panel of current college students representing the participating schools, who will answer questions about "Going to College in Your Own Back Yard," and give advice about successful college searches
-Representatives from student clubs and organizations at Clarkson University, St. Lawrence University, SUNY Canton and SUNY Potsdam
-A workshop on the application selection process, directed by current college admission counselors and high-school guidance counselors
-Booths on financial aid, residence life, athletics, and career development, staffed by representatives from the participating colleges and college students
