Wetmore Of Holmdel Elected Clarkson University Alumni Association Member-at-large
Richard Wetmore of Holmdel, N.J., director of Performance Applications Group, was recently elected a member-at-large of the Alumni Association at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. Wetmore's term runs until 2004.
Wetmore graduated from Clarkson in 1977 with a bachelor of science degree in electrical and computer engineering. Since graduation, he has enjoyed a 21-year career with the former AT&T Bell Laboratories, now Lucent Technologies. Wetmore has served in many increasingly responsible positions including division manager at AT&T Intelligent Network Operations Center, known as the "cock-pit" for AT&T's national and international networks, and is today the director of the Network Performance Applications Group, a team of 300 research and development staff responsible for improving the performance and reliability of public-switched telephone networks. Wetmore is a representative to the presidents' National Telecommunications Advisory Council and is a recognized speaker internationally. He is involved in many civic and charitable organizations and has been recognized for his work with inter-city youth and the disadvantaged as well as disabled community residents.
Wetmore is an avid Clarkson hockey fan and returns to campus almost annually to attend the alumni hockey reunion. He has also served on his class reunion committee and was presented the Arnold H. Barben Award in 1995 in recognition of his professional and civic accomplishments.
Wetmore, his wife Robin, and two children reside in Holmdel.
