Clarkson University Solar Car Qualifies For June's Sunrayce

Clarkson University's solar car underwent scrutineering and qualifying this past weekend in Michigan for the biannual solar powered vehicle race, Sunrayce.

The Clarkson car qualified to begin the Sunrayce in 7th place, it's highest ranking to date. The team also received an award for being the best-prepared team in the competition.

During the scrutineeering, judges evaluate the road-worthiness of the vehicle. Clarkson's car passed with more green stickers than that of any other team being reviewed.

Team Faculty Adviser Eric Thacher said he is pleased with the results and added that the weekend places Clarkson in a very competitive position for the 1300-mile, five-state race that begins June 20 in Washington, D.C., and ends June 29 in Orlando, Fla.
