Mitel Enterprises of Ogdensburg is a new sponsor of the North Country Ice Warriors, the Clarkson University/Massena High School/Potsdam High School U.S. FIRST Robotics Competition Team.
Ted Champagne, a Mitel engineer, played an integral role in securing funding from Mitel to support the team's efforts in this year's competition. He has also volunteered to help the team in other ways.
Mitel Enterprises is a division of Mitel Corporation of Kanata, Ontario, a multinational developer and manufacturer of telecommunications equipment, systems, and semiconductors.
“Clarkson University's SPEED program and the North Country Ice Warriors thank Ted Champagne and Mitel for their interest in helping to ‘inspire curiosity and create interest in science and mathematics among today's youth,’” said Tina C. Yuille, SPEED project coordinator.
The Mitel logo is prominently displayed on the robot, on team uniforms and in all team-related publications.
The North Country Ice Warriors invites similar types of support from other area businesses and individuals. If you or your company are interested in supporting a project that makes heroes out of teachers, engineers, and scientists while making learning fun and invigorating, contact Yuille at 315-268-7976 or email@example.com.
Clarkson University's SPEED Program (Student Projects for Engineering Experience and Design) promotes project-based learning opportunities by providing engineering design opportunities for Clarkson students through 16 project activities, including the Sunrayce competition and the U.S. FIRST Robotics competition. SPEED is supported by grants from General Electric and General Motors.
