Peter Radding Of Painted Post Receives Clarkson University's Highest Alumni Honor

What: Awarded Clarkson University's highest alumni award-- the Golden Knight Award-- by the Alumni Association at his alma mater, Clarkson University
Where: Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y.
Why: As part of ceremonies honoring alumni who have distinguished themselves either by service to their alma mater through Alumni Association service or have demonstrated outstanding career achievement, bringing distinction to themselves and to Clarkson.
Peter Radding received his bachelor of science degree in Industrial Distribution from Clarkson in 1963. Pete joined Corning Incorporated one month after graduation, and is now a 35-year corporate veteran. He began his career in product and application engineering positions. He subsequently served in technical sales and marketing management positions in four Corning divisions. In 1989, Pete became director of new business development, and in 1997 was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Omega One Communications, a joint venture of Corning, with operations in the United States and Australia. Pete was the leader of the commercial team that introduced optical fiber to the telecommunications industry in the early 1980s, and also contributed to the early development of color television picture tubes and specialty glasses for the integrated circuit industry.
Pete enjoys a passion for aviation, and in 1995 was recognized by the State of Delaware House of Representatives for his "outstanding service to his fellow man by using his aircraft for the purpose of mercy." He donates his time and use of his plane to transport critically ill people to medical centers where they can receive organ transplants and other special treatments. Pete also donates ground instruction and flight time to the Young Eagle's program, which was developed by Chuck Yeager, and is intended to inspire young people's interest in aviation.
Pete has been active in Clarkson Alumni Association affairs and has regularly participated in regional events and served as reunion co-chair for a number of class reunions. He has been serving as reunion class gift chair and assists as an alumni admissions volunteer. He is a member of the board of directors of Delta Upsilon Alumni Corporation, and has begun a second term serving as a member-at-large of the Alumni National Executive Council.
