Students Advised Not To Return To Campus
Potsdam, N.Y. – A massive ice storm and state of emergency throughout Northern New York has caused Clarkson University (Potsdam, N.Y.) to delay the start of classes for two days. University officials met today and decided to ask students not to return to the campus until next Monday (1/19/98). Most students were expected to arrive this weekend.
Over 80,000 people throughout the Northern New York Federal Disaster Area remain without power and the University is serving as a shelter for hundreds of individuals who cannot stay in their homes during the below zero temperatures. It is also serving as a base for over 500 utility workers who have arrived to assist the Niagara Mohawk Crews efforts to restore service to their customers.
