Clarkson University Students Awarded Scholarships From National Starch And Chemical Company
Juniors Lisa A. Gauger of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Thomas A. Lemanski of Ballston Spa, N.Y., and sophomore Matthew J. Youngers of Arcade, N.Y., were each awarded $1,500 for their outstanding scholastic achievement.
Based in Bridgewater, N.J., National Starch and Chemical is a global specialty chemical manufacturer and a producer of such products as cosmetics, textiles and adhesive materials. The company has long been a supporter of educational opportunities at Clarkson, providing not only scholarships but financial assistance and speakers to such organizations as the campus chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineering (AIChE). National Starch has also been an annual presence at the Clarkson Career Fair.
National Starch has a history of recruiting from Clarkson's Chemical Engineering program, said Richard McCluskey, executive officer of Clarkson's Chemical Engineering Department. "They have been pleased with the people they have hired from Clarkson in the past."
Clarkson University is an independent institution located in northern New York, in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. The University has 2,745 graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in programs in its schools of Business, Engineering, Liberal Arts, and Science, and its Interdisciplinary Engineering and Management program.
